We are facing a phenomenon: The industry defines various standards (The worst thing about standards, is: There’s a plural to it!), and as a software vendor you try to stick to them. What does this have to do with PTV? In the past, xServers were based on JWSDP – a rather “tolerant” technology. If you sent erroneous (regarding the W3C standards) requests to an xServer prior to 1.10, they may have been proccessed and you received a response. So in a sense, we were not conform to the standard. Now, with the 1.10 xServers we are conform to W3C standard: the 1.10 xservers are based on CXF, which is W3C conform and follows a rather strict policy regarding standards.
In this context, some customers may face the situation, that they have to review their applications, when updating. Those customers, who have been using our jwsdp based 1.8 Java clients will have to think about this one. (afaik .NET developers won’t face any problems in this context). We will continue to deliver software that supports standards and document this.
