We plan to build and test the next version of PTV xServer 2 on updated operating system environments, bringing enhanced security and reliability. This is relevant for all on-premise installations.
What’s Changing
To ensure our customers benefit from the latest platform improvements, we will upgrade our build and testing environments:
Windows Customers:
- New recommendation from 2.40: Windows Server 2025
- Previous recommendation till 2.39: Windows Server 2019
Linux Customers:
- New recommendation from 2.40: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
- Previous recommendation till 2.39: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
Deployment Flexibility
While we recommend the operating systems we use in our own build and testing environments to ensure optimal compatibility, we understand that every organization has different infrastructure requirements. For Windows customers, PTV xServer 2 typically runs well on other Windows Server versions beyond our recommended Windows Server 2025. For Linux environments, you have the flexibility to use Docker on other Linux distributions, allowing you to deploy PTV xServer 2 on your preferred Linux platform while maintaining full functionality.
